Packed And Ready

We leave for Israel tomorrow and I will not be blogging from afar. I will have a cell phone for local use but not for international contact.

I will not have an iPad, iPhone, tablet or the like, or a laptop computer of any sort. I will have a pen and a notebook to jot down anything of interest I might want to share with you on my return. I know it sounds heretical in these times to be so out of touch but there are telephones in Israel and those who need to contact me know how to do it.

And on the subject of communications devices, I just read an article in the NYTimes Magazine today about protective screens for your iPad, tablet or smartphone. It seems another "must have" has been perpetrated and Apple users are developing an almost erotic attachment to their screens.

Gimme a break! Is there no end to the cunning marketing that has people shelling out big bucks for yet another "must have" to go with their already "haves?"

If the iPad or iPhone surface is so susceptible to damage why wasn't that defect corrected in the first place?

Wait. The next version will have the screen protector either built-in or as an option at obviously higher prices.

Are you salivating for the "new and improved" scratch-protected iPad?
